Vivaldi Gloria

Schola Cantorum will be performing Antonio Vivaldi’s Gloria on Friday 20th April 2012 in Chester Cathedral. Vivaldi actually wrote several settings of the Gloria, but the D major RV 589 version is the most well known. The Gloria is scored for mixed choir with a number of soprano and alto soloists, and was originally written for Vivaldi’s own choir at the Pio Ospedale della Pietà.

Members of the choir can hear MIDI files of their own voice parts at the CyberBass website. Simply select the voice part and movement that you would like to hear and the MIDI file should start to play automatically. See Mr Robinson if you have any problems hearing the music on this site.

    • The concert is at 7.30pm on Friday 1st April 2011 at Chester Cathedral. The first half of the concert will include performances of Bach’s E major Violin Concerto and Beethoven’s First Symphony. Tickets are available online from http://www.chestercathedral.com.
